At HelloWallet, we take your privacy very seriously. Our primary goal in collecting information from you is to provide you with a smooth and customized experience while you use our services. We do not disclose any personally identifiable information about you to any third party without your permission, unless we believe in good faith that we are authorized to do so by law. This Privacy Policy describes the information we collect from users of our Services (“Users”) and how we use it. Capitalized terms used in this Privacy Policy are defined in our Terms of Use unless otherwise specified.

What Information Does HelloWallet Gather And Track?

In general, we collect information about you in the following ways:

Registration -
The more information you provide (and the more accurate it is), the better we are able to customize and provide our services to suit your needs and preferences. When you register for one of the HelloWallet Services, we may ask that you give us non-personal information. We also ask that you give us personal information such as your name, email address, zip code, gender (optional), birth date, and your income. When you register for a subscription-based service, we ask that you provide us with additional information, such as your credit card number and credit card expiration date, and phone number.

Usage Tracking/Hardware/Software – While you use any of our Services, we automatically track information related to your use of the Services. This information may include (among other things) content viewed by users and a user’s path through our Services. There is also information about your computer or mobile device hardware and software that is automatically collected by HelloWallet when you are using HelloWallet’s web sites (including any mobile applications that may in the future be supported by HelloWallet. This information can include information such as: your browser type, IP address, type of operating system, mobile device platform, type of Java Virtual Machine, internet connection speed, access times and identification of any software program or hardware which has previously caused technical problems with the HelloWallet Services.

Technical Support/Information – When you request technical support or information for HelloWallet Services, we ask you for your personal information and other information necessary to answer your question or resolve your problem.

Promotions or Contests – When you enter a contest or promotion sponsored by HelloWallet and/or our partners, we ask for your contact information so that our partners or we can administer the contest or promotion, and notify winners.

Surveys/Questionnaires – We may occasionally ask HelloWallet Users or visitors to fill out optional surveys and/or questionnaires. These surveys/questionnaires may ask for demographic information, investment, shopping or dining habits, information about computer or mobile device use, and other information pertinent to provision of the Services.

Public Forums on HelloWallet. If you use any bulletin board, blog or chat room on or as part of the Services, you should be aware that any information you submit there can be read, collected or used by other users and could be used to send you unsolicited messages. We are not responsible for the personal information you choose to submit in these forums.

Other Information You Give Us – When you use the HelloWallet Services, we may collect any information that you enter or give us in any other way in order to contact you about HelloWallet Services. Additionally, if you want to learn more about our products or services, we may request that you fill out a form in which we ask for information such as your first/last name, mailing address, email address and phone number. We only use this information to contact you in order to provide you with information about HelloWallet products and services, answer any questions that you may have, and/or help you sign up for the HelloWallet Service of your choice.

What Happens to My Information After I Upload it to HelloWallet?

Your personal and financial data are yours. You can remove them anytime you want. We will retain billing records and communication opt-out preferences consistent with industry best practices. When you request us to delete your account for the Services, your data will be permanently expunged from our primary production servers and further access to your account will not be possible. We will also promptly disconnect any connection we had established to your Account Information and delete all account credentials. However, portions of your data, consisting of aggregate data derived from your Account Information, may remain on our production servers indefinitely. Your data may also remain on a backup server or media. HelloWallet keeps these backups to ensure our continued ability to provide the Services to you in the event of malfunction or damage to our primary production servers. We also reserve the right to use any aggregated or anonymous data derived from or incorporating your personal information.

We work with third parties to provide the Services, including gathering financial information from your accounts at the financial institutions you link to your HelloWallet account. Our third party service providers are contractually required to maintain confidentiality of your personal information. Personal information held at your financial institutions is subject to your agreements with those institutions.

Personal information may be transferred to a third party as a result of a sale, acquisition, merger, reorganization or other transfer (a “Transfer”) involving HelloWallet. HelloWallet specifically reserves the right to transfer personal information to a third party in connection with a Transfer. Should such a Transfer occur, we will request that the new combined entity follow this Privacy Policy with respect to your personal information, as and to the extent required by applicable law and to require that you receive prior notice if your personal information could be used contrary to this Policy.

How does HelloWallet use my information?

HelloWallet uses your information on an aggregated basis to do such things as operate and enhance our Services, including accurately targeting promotions to users. We statistically analyze site usage, including the behavior of our Users, to improve the content, layout, and services of the HelloWallet web sites, as well as to enhance our marketing and promotional efforts.

We may share aggregate, non-personally identifiable information about our Users with third parties, such as our partners or the general public, for educational, research, marketing and promotional purposes.

We may also share individualized data regarding Users with our Academic Advisory Board, such as data listing Users as separate line items in a database. In these cases we anonymize all User data so that no User can be personally identified from the data provided to the Academic Advisory Board.

We use the information we collect to process payments, confirm renewal charges or payments to your account, administer your account and the like, as applicable to your account.

Finally, we may use the information we collect to occasionally notify you about important functionality changes to the web site, new HelloWallet Services, and special offers (including promotion of our product or third party products) we think you will find valuable. Except for communications sent to you regarding material company announcements or policy changes, if you would rather not receive this information you can indicate your preference in your account. We also comply with the Federal CAN-SPAM act by providing one-click opt out from commercial emails.

Does HelloWallet Share User Account Information?

Except as otherwise contemplated in this Privacy Policy, HelloWallet will not disclose any of your personal information without your permission unless authorized by law to do so.

Business Partners – In addition to disclosing personal information to agents who provide services to you on HelloWallet’s behalf, HelloWallet may disclose your personal information to our business partners in specific situations, after describing what we intend to do and obtaining your consent prior to data collection or prior to transferring the data. Our business partners have separate privacy and data collection practices. HelloWallet has no responsibility or liability for these independent policies. Our business model involves “sponsorship” by large organizations, for example so that an employer can offer HelloWallet accounts to its employees at no cost. Sponsoring organizations may request aggregate data on financial patterns applicable to the HelloWallet users they sponsor; we do not provide your personal information to any sponsoring organization without your express consent. If a sponsoring organization requests personally identifiable information, we will describe in detail the information requested, and only release that information with your prior consent.

Agents – We may employ other companies and individuals who are subject to confidentiality obligations, to perform functions on our behalf. Examples include, but are not limited to, sending postal mail and email, removing repetitive information from customer lists, gathering financial account information, analyzing data, providing marketing assistance, providing customer service, and collecting and processing payments for the Services. They have access to personal information needed to perform their functions, but may not use it for other purposes.

Promotions, Sweepstakes/Contests – Some HelloWallet promotions, sweepstakes or contests may require that you provide additional information, such as your mailing address or credit card number. Such information may be shared with a third party if such third party is sponsoring the event or if the information is necessary in order to administer the service or process your transaction.

Some HelloWallet promotions, sweepstakes or contests may also offer opportunities to request additional information from sponsors and/or may require that you share some basic information in order to participate. By requesting more information or by participating, you give HelloWallet permission to transfer your personal information to the sponsor or partner so they can fulfill your request.

You are never obligated to participate in HelloWallet promotions, sweepstakes or contests.

Legally Compelled Disclosure and Other – HelloWallet may disclose or access account information when we believe in good faith that the law requires it or for the protection of our legal rights. HelloWallet may also disclose information in special cases when we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be violating the Terms Of Use. We can disclose any personal information about you to law enforcement or other government officials as we, in our sole discretion, believe necessary or appropriate, in connection with a violation of the Terms Of Use, an investigation of fraud, intellectual property infringements, or other activity that is illegal or may expose us to legal liability.

How secure is my account information?

HelloWallet uses industry standard efforts to safeguard the confidentiality of your personally identifiable information, such as firewalls and Secure Socket Layers. We make reasonable efforts to protect against the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control. In addition, we always use a secure connection when collecting personal financial information from you. However, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.

Our servers are in a secure facility. Access requires multiple levels of authentication, including biometrics (hand print scan) procedures. Security personnel monitor the system 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

Our databases are protected from general employee access both physically and logically. All backup drives and tapes also are encrypted.

We enforce physical access controls to our buildings.

Our policies restrict employees from putting sensitive content on any insecure machine (i.e., no personally identifiable information can be taken from the database and put on an insecure laptop).

HelloWallet has been verified by Verisign for its use of SSL encryption technologies. In addition, HelloWallet or its service providers test elements of the Services daily for failure points that would allow hacking.

Your HelloWallet account is password-protected so in addition to those partners or agents who may provide you services, only you and those you designate can access it and view the user information relevant to your account. We encrypt your Services password so that your password cannot be recovered, even by us (provided that if you forget your password we may email you a new temporary password). Ultimately, you are responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your passwords and any account information. Remember to log out of your HelloWallet account and close your browser window when you are done. This ensures that others cannot access your personal information if your computer is accessible to others.

How Do I Opt Out Of Receiving Messages From HelloWallet?

Except as otherwise contemplated in this Privacy Policy if you do not want to receive messages from HelloWallet about new features or products, tips on product use, and promotions, you can opt out by clicking the appropriate link in any such message.

Since it is necessary for us to contact you regarding certain matters, you may not opt-out of receiving messages relating to material company announcements or policy changes, or administrative matters relating to your account, like billing, collections, customer support or the like.

If you provided your personal information to HelloWallet for the purposes of receiving more information about a HelloWallet Service before choosing to sign up as a User, and you no longer want to be contacted by HelloWallet, you can click on the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any email you receive and HelloWallet will remove you from the list of those who will be contacted with more information about the HelloWallet service.

What Are Cookies And How Does HelloWallet Use Them?

Cookies are small pieces of information stored on your phone or hard drive, not on our site. The use of cookies is an industry standard, generally used by most major Web sites to improve their services. HelloWallet uses cookies because they allow us to store your password without your having to constantly re-enter it. Cookies can also help us track your behavior on our site so that we can tailor our marketing message to better match your needs and interests. Finally, by tracking behavior on our site, cookies allow us to better understand how users use our Services, which in turn helps us focus our resources on features that are most popular with our users. You are always free to decline our cookies if your browser permits, but some parts of our Services may not work properly if you do so.

How Does HelloWallet Notify Users Of Changes To The Privacy Policy?

This policy is periodically reviewed by HelloWallet and may be subject to change. Therefore, please check this Privacy Policy periodically and you may refer to the date posted at the top of this page to determine when this policy was last updated. Use of the Services constitutes consent to any policies then in effect.

If we are going to use your personally identifiable information in a manner different from that as provided in our Privacy Policy at the time of collection we will notify you via email. You will have a choice as to whether or not we use your information in this different manner. In addition, if we make any material changes in our privacy practices that do not affect user information already stored in our database, we will post a prominent notice on our Services notifying users of the change. In some cases where we post the notice we will also email users who have opted to receive communications from us, notifying them of the changes in our privacy practices.

HelloWallet and Children.

HelloWallet is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
